Cool idea for a post! They actually mentioned the FDR/Hoover cover on the broadcast I was watching today and I had meant to look it up.....

What broadcast did you hear about it on? I was curious about the background for that cover.

I'm looking forward to reading about your day.

It was on NBC. It was when Obama and Bush were taking the ride up to the Capitol together and Tom Brokaw was adding historical commentary and explaining how sometimes that ride with the new and exiting president can be very awkward. He cited that cover as an exaggerated example of how badly the Roosevelt/Hoover ride went. I do have the correct cover, right?

I've heard previously that the Hoover/Roosevelt transition was very difficult....that Roosevelt did his best to make it difficult in order to gain more political capital once he was finally in office.

Cool background. Thanks. Yeah, that's when Roosevelt was elected and Hoover was on his way out. I guess that in 1937, inauguration was moved from March to January because Roosevelt felt like there was too much time in between the election and inauguration, especially where there is a crisis, like 1932-33.

I was wondering what Bush and Obama talked about in those car rides.
