My dad's Christmas present this year

Almost all of the people surrounding my dad (photo taken when he was about 18 years old) are direct ancestors, with an aunt and uncle thrown in there to fill it out. I created the collage, saved it as a jpeg, and then sent it over to Costo where they printed off an 8x8 square for a mere 1.49.

My next project is to create a similar collage with me surrounded by my maternal ancestors.

That's a great present! Was he surprised?

I love this gift idea!

I keep meaning to email you....Ed and I agreed that your Christmas letter was the best we had ever received...really really creative....not that it's a contest....but we LOVED it and only wish we had thought of the idea first :-)

Maryanne, My dad is very stoic, so although he probably was surprised, he didn't show it. I also worked on a photobook for his parents with a lot of ancestor photos, so he had seen the pics all recently.

Jen, thanks! That's high praise, from two great writers. The "letter" idea wasn't ours--on her blog, my sister excels in this format. But, it was fun to make a year of it. And you're welcome to spin out your own version next year if you want.
