Amens
Is it hypocritical to say "Amen" when you don't agree with everything said in a prayer? Or can you say a conditional "Amen", setting aside that which you object to? Or is it better just to not say "Amen" at all?
Yeah, but you're saying, "So be it", right? And what if I don't want [whatever] to occur, if I have a strong disagreement with [whatever], do I really want to say "so be it"?
I think I would like to do your idea of "so be it" to all of the things that I agree with and "don't be it" to the things that I don't. That's kind of what I do in my head. I found out though that some people take this very seriously. Like, my mission president, when we said amen at the end of his talk, told us that if we did we were obligating ourselves to meet all of the goals he outlined in his talk. So meh, who knows.
I don't think you're making any covenants with God when you say amen. Maybe I'm wrong
